Jill + Keith by Pat Kane

Keith and Jill on the Pilot's Monument overlooking Yellowknife Bay.

Last week I photographed a great wedding between two awesome people, Jill and Keith. The ceremony was held in front of family and friends in their backyard in Old Town. It was a special day for everyone who attended.

Here is a sneak-peek of what I captured. It was an honour to be part of your wedding - thanks so much for having me. Enjoy the photos!

2015 Year in Review by Pat Kane

Leah Simba plays at a hunting camp at Tathlina Lake while her great grandfather, Gabe Chicot, inspects a moose head in the background. Photographed for On the Land/Tides Canada.

At the end of each year, I like to take a look back at some of the people and places I've photographed. It never seems like I do very much throughout the year until I go through my files and come face to face with a mountain of images on my hard drive. Some of the highlights in 2015 were photographing the Yukon Quest, shooting a horror film for the Dead North Film Festival with my pal Jay, eating polar bear prepared by Angela Hovak Johnston, attending the Boreal Bash/Workshop in Toronto, and spending time in the Yellowknife jail for VICE magazine. But my most memorable experience this year was spending 9 days at Tathlina Lake with the Kakisa Dene First Nation and documenting their annual fall moose hunt for a project called On the Land

Below is a mishmash of all sorts of photos I took this year for a variety of clients and assignments. I hope you enjoy them. Happy new year!

Courtney + Kyle by Pat Kane

Courtney and Kyle at Long Lake, NWT.

Huge congratulations to Courtney and Kyle, who invited me to photograph their beautiful wedding at the Folk on the Rocks site in Yellowknife. You couldn't have asked for a better day - the weather was perfect and the site itself, especially the decor and details crafted by Courtney, really made it look incredible. Thanks so much for having me along - I had a great time and I wish you both the very best in the years ahead. Lot of love - Pat.

Kathy + Zabey by Pat Kane

Kathy and Zabey in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

I had the pleasure to photograph the wedding between Kathy and Zabey in Yellowknife. Such a lovely, relaxed couple with a great group of friends and family. It's great to be part of these kinds of weddings where everyone truly enjoys the day. The ceremony, especially the vows, was beautiful and the reception was a lesson in how to dance after a terrific meal! Thanks to Kathy and Zabey for having me along, I had a wonderful time and hope you love these photos for many years. All the best to you and your family!
